Sunday afternoon. It is raining. The snow has gone.

I went to Fabricland and found what I was needing for a project in the kitchen that needs completion. My wonderful "Fleece Artist" socks are done except for one toe grafting. The textured narrow scarf is done too. Pictures to come.

Right brain activity today.............I'm working on my parent's anniversary/birthday party invitations. I like what I've done so far. Tonight, TV watching hand activity should involve casting on another pair of socks...."Opal" cotton.

On my way home I just happened to stop into our local bead store. This weekend I learned that I was born in the year of the Hare and that my power colour is pale blue. And so I thought I needed to wear pale blue every day. Don't you? And....I wanted to buy some Thai Silver pieces and I found some beautiful square Italian glass beads. You'll see when I take some pictures.

I have a roast on the bbq and some sweet potatoes to cook up. Life is good.

Never one to give up too easily, I decided to do some searching for this yarn, this mysterious "Marjanna" yarn by The Schaefer Yarn Co. Well I found it. I found this luxurious 50/50 cashmere and silk blend, a wonderful soft fibre, I'll only imagine. And I'm still laughing and laughing. One ball, ok it is a big ball, but one ball just the same, is..........are you ready........drum roll please............$58.99 U.S. and I would need 4 of them to make this sweater. Um, I will be looking for a nice but suitable substitute.
Back View.....I don't want to lose this pattern again.

Movies I want to rent - The Constant Gardener", "Ladies in Lavender", "Sabah", "In Her Shoes" (Jan. 31) and then in February, "Elizabethtown" and "Proof". Great winter movie nights ahead don't you think? A movie while knitting this hoodie; as long as the yarn doesn't cost a car payment. Posted by Picasa
Another view. Yes I do want to make this sweater. I think I'll search on line for the yarn.  Posted by Picasa
While I was searching www.knitty.com I found this amazing bag. Isn't it stupendous? I could keep all my current projects in one neat little place. I think I may have to order this one day. Posted by Picasa
I found it! Last night I spent hours....I am very sure it was hours I spent searching the great www knitting sites I have bookmarked - and there are many - to find the pattern for a sweater I want to knit. I gave up. This morning, with a fresh start I found it...deep in the "pages" of www.knitty.com. I forgot this site is like one great big book and you must search away. I would like to make this "hoodie", a little longer of course and perhaps a bit looser to cover the flaws of nature, but I would like to make it someday. It looks comfy doesn't it? Posted by Picasa

Hey, it is Wednesday....nearly Wednesday night and that means it is "Lost" night. But more importantly it is "Weeds" night too. You have to check out that show. Now I am feeling a bit better. I learned how to make really good chocolate fudge. Shit. Why did I have to go and do that? I am hopeful that I will be sick of it by....well, soon I hope. Posted by Picasa

Crap Crap Crappy Day. I feel bla, dark, down and in need of a pity party for one. I am tired, is all, I guess. I have a sore-ish throat happening again and that is making me grumpy. Maybe I need a cup of tea, a tylenol for the throat and a nap. Yes that is what I'll do. Home made chicken soup is simmering on the back burner. But lately this is how I feel....and look....hmmmm must do something about this weight around the middle that keeps growing. This isn't my belly btw.

"That Political Guy" who was on our plane to St. John's! The devil we don't know.....auch well at least he doesn't have all the power he would have liked. And we have Belinda for our voice. Hmmmmm gazing into my crystal ball I see, Belinda for Prime Minister and Hillary for President. Maybe then the world will be a better place.

I like this one. Posted by Picasa
Just having some fun............ Posted by Picasa

The snow from a few days ago melted - completely. Today it snowed. Bits of trivia.....no to the Thai pants...don't even ask why....the Panta needs a re-do.....the socks (sock #2) are almost done...new project started; narrow textured scarf from "Fleece Artist". I call that project movie knitting.

It snowed today. Snowed lots...big fluffy flakes that could hypnotize you if you stared for awhile. It was pretty. But then I didn't have to drive far. Must charge up the camera battery. I finished the Panta but want to try another one with smaller needles. It is just a bit too loose and big. I like the idea of these knitted headband thingies though. Something just a bit different. Tonight, next item on the list - make a pair of flannel Thai pants! I seem to have an abundance of single size Ibex flannel sheets and only one single bed now....so that fabric will be good for a test-run. Going to sew now.

I want these pants! I would like to learn how to make these pants.

Sunday evening, supper is cooking. This is rare because I've been in a "I hate to cook" mode for as long as I can remember.

Today was relaxed. Laundry. Knitting. Homemade waffles. Made apple crisp. Made supper.

Going to eat supper now. Posted by Picasa

Went to Kensington Market on Friday. What fun. I used to shop there all the time, on my way home from work way back in 1970-plus-something. The area has spread, the character remains the same.

Winter is back....cold...windy...snowy.....brrrrr. The kind of weather that makes you want to knit! I've started a Panta. We'll see how that goes.

I would sincerely like to make this cardigan...perhaps as a reward for weight well lost. Not that I've lost weight but if I did, I would like this sweater, and skirt and belt and the flat abs while I'm dreaming. Posted by Picasa
This collage of pictures was certainly fun to make! Posted by Picasa
One is done....Fleece Artist Merino. It feels like the softest cotton. Posted by Picasa
Today the sun is shining. So far, this winter has been mild-ish and kind to us. I know the winter is just starting; but shhhhhh; maybe it will be gentle on us this year. I saw "Memoirs of a Geisha". The film progressed slowly which gave me lots of time to savour the scenery - the gardens, the costumes. The story; well yet another tale where women are commodities. I'm working on my sock, at the toe decreasing stage now, so soon I will have another picture. Business is slow (as is usual for this time of year) but that means The Boss is worried and a worried boss makes for walking-on-egg-shell-time. Any minute there is the threat of decreasing the paycheques for awhile. Shit! Just when I have myself on a budget that works and my run-away savings account is growing, the threat of being cut back looms overhead. OM. Om Mani Padme Om saidhttp://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=Om+Mani+Padme+Hum&meta= with index finger and thumb joined in a circle; of course :>).

Namaste

Posted by Picasa Thanks to the not so gentle urging of my techno-geek childhood friend (her word), I started this blog in February 2003. Way back then, in the dark ages, my blog was plain and boring. No colour, no photos. Only the "geeks" could manage that. Wow. Christine would be so excited to see all the blogs out there now - mine, my best friend's blog, her daughters' blogs, and so on. This photo was taken in September 2003, three months before Christine's sudden death. Cheers Christine.http://www.scripting.com/thea/Thea.html

Nifty Buttons "Stop Harper" Posted by Picasa
Isn't this an amazing photograph? It is not mine. I love how the photographer captured the transparency of the Dragonfly's wings on the Globe Thistle flower. I think it represents me - trying to be invisible on a prickly surface. Ooooo Posted by Picasa
I just had to post this picture because....well....it puts me in a Zen place. Look into those eyes. Wowza. Ok, so maybe I should go back to knitting now. Posted by Picasa www.Naveen-Andrews.net
I finished the heel flap last night. In the early morning hours I shaped and turned the heel. Can you see how this tube is becoming a sock now? Posted by Picasa
The oldest breed of sheep in North America. But would she be happy in my little backyard?  Posted by Picasa
Wow..I woke early this morning. I am NOT a morning person by any stretch. Perhaps it was the chance to have the house to myself for just a bit that tempted out of a nice warm flannel bed so early - 6:40 a.m. Bryan had left for Toronto, leaving sick Adam at home still sleeping after a rough day of gastro, Ryan still snoozing of course and enjoying the last few days off. I am selfish in that I do like to have the house to myself lots...or at least a space to myself where I won't be interrupted.

It is dangerously close to work time but I have done so much and eased gently into this day. I shaped the heel of my sock, turned the heel and now I'm onto to decreasing for the instep and the foot. I am in love with Merino sheep and the (tres expensive) wool they produce. I think this just may be the winter that I will have handknit socks entirely! Bliss.

This was the view from my (home) office window late this morning. Yes, this picture is in living colour! Amazing.  Posted by Picasa
Oh...what fun...I have Picasa now and I think I have the hang of blogging. Doesn't the site look so much more interesting folks? My sock - the ribbing is done and now I'm on to the plain part just before the heel preparation. I love this yarn and I'll say that again and again I'm sure.  Posted by Picasa
The skein is wound into a ball using my nifty skein holder and ball winder. Original names, no? I love these colours and the tight twisted rib. Posted by Picasa
In the beginning there is a skein.  Posted by Picasa
